That quote you used is chilling. I've been researching Scientology lately for lack of anything better to do. This pic is AMAZING!! Yep, yep, exceptional!
Scientology? Oh yeah, gotta love the Scientology crowd. Its aggressive recruitment of celebrities in an attempt to gain exposure & credibility, its bilking $$thousands out of members (typical of cults. They demand a great deal for their teachings), & its relentless persecution of critics through the legal system make me a huge fan.
If you haven't done it already in your research, look up lisaclause.org. It is very informative.
Re the picture: I didn't draw it. It is one of the backgrounds I use for the quotes. Those I actually do; what you see was lettered by hand, then layered over the pic & tweaked in PSP.
Yes, I've looked into the Lisa McPherson case some, which was one of the first pieces of information that I came across, and it led me to look up other things about the cult/religion. I've also found the whole thing about breaking in to the FBI fascinating. And the evil Lord Xenu story is particularly amusing.
What I found to be a bit alarming is their technique of recruiting by asking people if they would like "a free stress test" - that basically sounds harmless enough. Then I also found out scientology's "Mecca" (so to speak) is in Florida, not all that far from where my brother is stationed. Scientology's high ranking Sea Organization dress themselves in navy officer uniforms, and they sometimes target military personnel for initiation into their group... They also tell new religious recruits that scientology is "an applied philosophy" and that one can be a christian and a scientologist, which turns out to be untrue later on in their membership. So I warned Ryan that if anyone in a naval officer uniform asks him if he wants a stress test, the answer is: "No, thank you." Though, I think he would be able to tell the difference in the Sea Org uniforms as opposed to the real thing.
As for the calligraphy, this is fantastic! The lettering is consitant throughout the quote. Very nice! I honestly thought it was a font, and I overlooked it entirely. (Which is to say that I think it's well done.) However, (unsolicited advise) I think it's in the wrong category. I'd list this piece under Text & Typography > Calligraphy > then choose whether you feel it's more Traditional or Digital. I'd hate for your art to get deleted due to a miscategorization or a misunderstanding.
I always think of ESP when I read "PSP." - For a moment, I completely thought you were suggesting that some kind of psychic power influenced your work. I've really gotta get more sleep.
Xenu is great. i have a house on the beach, there.

How's the weather there? Is it warm & sunny like SoCal beaches, or is it foggy & wet, like San Francisco & Seattle? If we get to know each other, I'd like to see your Xena property sometime. I'll bring a fishing rod...
the weather there is definitely temperamental, but if you time is just right you can get a couple of months of clear, beautiful purple skies with a nice breeze. the fishing is superb! there are all sorts of great places to cast down by my house. you should come, i'll bring the seasonal ale of the local brewery...i hear it's made with Gonargle blood! delicious.
